UFT Endorses Khari Edwards as Early Voting Begins in Brooklyn Borough President Race

Khari Edwards 2025 Brooklyn Borough President Candidate - 1

As early voting gets underway in New York City, Khari Edwards’ campaign for Brooklyn Borough President has gained major traction with a key endorsement from the United Federation of Teachers (UFT). Representing nearly 200,000 members, the influential union officially threw its support behind Edwards, reinforcing his position as a top contender in the race.

Early Voting runs from Saturday, June 14 through Sunday, June 22, with Primary Election Day set for Tuesday, June 24. Polls will be open from 6 a.m. to 9 p.m. on Election Day.

The UFT’s backing is a significant win for Edwards, particularly among educators, parents, and voters who prioritize public education. The endorsement follows support from District Council 37 (DC 37)—the city’s largest municipal workers union—suggesting a growing consensus among organized labor around Edwards’ vision for Brooklyn.

“I’m honored to have the support of the United Federation of Teachers in the race for Brooklyn Borough President,” said Edwards. “As borough president, my mission will be to invest in our schools, support our educators, and ensure that every student, no matter their zip code, has access to a high‑quality, equitable education in a thriving learning environment.”

The UFT’s endorsement underscores Edwards’ long-standing commitment to improving education across the borough, a platform that has resonated with voters and stakeholders alike. With both UFT and DC 37 in his corner, Edwards heads into the final stretch of the race with strong institutional support and growing momentum.
