The official noted: “She has taken, and will continue to take, steps in accordance with President Trump’s order to protect our elections, working alongside our interagency partners.”
According to two senior officials familiar with the situation, Gabbard’s appearance in Fulton County wasn’t necessary and was not requested by the Justice Department. However, they stated that her role was limited to observing the execution of the FBI’s search warrant, and her presence did not violate any laws.
“It appears to be an effort to maintain her relevance,” said one official. “It’s very odd.”
On Thursday night, Trump addressed a reporter’s inquiry regarding Gabbard’s attendance at the raid.
