The official stated: “She has been and will remain committed to implementing President Trump’s directive to protect our elections and is collaborating with our interagency partners in that effort.”
Two high-level officials familiar with the situation said that Gabbard’s appearance in Fulton County was unneeded and was not sanctioned by the Justice Department. However, they noted that she was solely observing the FBI’s execution of the search warrant, and her presence did not violate any laws.
“This appears to be an attempt to insert herself into the situation,” said one official. “It’s unusual.”
On Thursday night, Trump addressed questions from a reporter regarding Gabbard’s appearance at the search.
