LIU Sharks Prove Unstoppable with 74-55 NEC Road Victory

Long Island University maintained its perfect start in the Northeast Conference on Sunday, never trailing in a commanding 74-55 win at Chicago State.

LIU Brooklyn (8-7, 2-0 NEC) surged out of the gates, building a lead that reached 11 in the opening half. Chicago State (2-13, 0-2 NEC) rallied midway through, cutting the gap to 23-21 with just under six minutes left in the first half.

LIU responded with authority, closing the half on a 14-6 run to take firm control heading into halftime.

Goings’ Quick Three Sets The Tone

Any hopes for a Chicago State comeback faded early in the second half. A minute into the period, junior Jomo Goings buried a three-pointer, extending the lead to 42-31 and keeping LIU in front by double figures for the entire second half.

Fuller Dominates On Both Sides

Graduate student Jamal Fuller led all scorers with 21 points and grabbed seven rebounds to pace LIU on both ends of the floor. Goings added 15 points, with senior Greg Gordon and junior Faheim Meran each contributing 11, giving the Sharks four players in double digits.

Fuller also made his mark defensively, recording a team-high two blocks and two steals. Check out the Full Box Score here.
