Punxsutawney Phil makes his Groundhog Day winter prediction

Out of 19 rodents used for weather forecasting, Phil’s New York cousin Staten Island Chuck achieved the highest accuracy with an 85 percent success rate.

Leading up to his main appearance, Phil made a tour of the commonwealth, including a memorable stop at Penn State University in State College, where crowds waited for over two hours, according to the Centre County Gazette.

PETA, joined by other animal rights activists, maintained their annual call for Punxsutawney Phil’s retirement and once again suggested he be replaced with a hologram instead.
